5 Questions You Should Ask Your Concrete Floor Specialist

Hiring the right concrete floor specialist for your refrigerated warehouse is absolutely critical. Though competing companies may offer similar products, the actual care and work that goes into their products and services may differ substantially. There are a few questions that you should always ask before committing to a contractor.

  1. Is your concrete lab tested? Do you have your own laboratory?

Concrete needs to be lab tested to ensure that it is durable and long-lasting. The best companies have their own laboratories in addition to sending their materials to third-party labs for verification. Having their own laboratories enables a company to do more thorough and complete testing, creating concrete and other materials that will withstand the test of time.
  2. Do you conduct daily job-site testing?

Even if materials are lab tested, this doesn't necessarily guarantee the strength of those materials when they are actually mixed and poured at the job. Daily job-site testing is critical to identify any issues that could have cropped up during the actual process of mixing and setting the concrete.
  3. Do you have the experience to manage the ready mix producer's production and service?

Reputable concrete floor companies will have established relationships with concrete ready mix companies, enabling the sourcing of the best materials as well as the best and most reliable service.  Companies that have not fostered these relationships or don’t know how to manage the ready mix producer may not be able to provide you with the best floor or the best service.
  4. Do you have references I can contact?

Every floor specialist should be able to immediately produce a list of references that you can contact regarding their service. Customer reviews and testimonials are the best way to determine whether you're working with a reputable company or a company that may promise more than they can truly deliver.
  5. How long do your floor installations actually last?

Everyone has an estimate of how long their floors will last, but the truth is in the practice. Ask your floor contractor how long their customer's floors have actually lasted. This will give you a better idea of how their floors hold up to actual usage.
